In May of 2016, friend of mine had done a couple sprint triathlons and was bragging about how he could bet me in a race. I wasn’t a bike rider, didn’t even own a bike. No experience swimming just playing in lakes and rivers growing up. The only time I ran was in the Marine Corps, when they made me run everyday but that had been eighteen years earlier. So I borrowed a bike, started going to a gym pool, and started running. Well I kicked his butt in the race and I was hooked.

A few weeks after the race I jumped completely head first into the sport by signing up for Ironman Arizona. I figured that gave me a full year to train and plenty of time to be ready. I started looking into training programs, found TriDot and immediately loved it. So one year later and a couple more sprints and some Olympic races in my back pocket (no 70.3 races) I completed Ironman Arizona in 11:43. All because of TriDot.

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or a hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever. That surrender, even the smallest act of giving up, stays with me. So when I feel like quitting, I ask myself , which would I rather live with- Lance Armstrong.
