From Preseason Project to the Big Island

In the early morning hours, before dawn breaks, 48-year-old Kit Allowitz is awake and grinding. The metrology development manager trains before the sun rises to ensure he can devote the remainder of his day to family and career responsibilities.

Hours later in Colorado, Karen Cowles, a registered nurse working from home as a safety specialist with the FDA, is on the bike trainer, pushing through challenging intervals before her lunch break ends. Completing her workout during the day is key to keeping her evening hours open, where she will lead the track workout for her local training group.

In a Dallas Texas suburb, 30-year-old coach Elizabeth James wraps up her evening workout before settling into an orientation call with on-boarding athletes in Australia; while in Toronto Canada, Kim Robinson, a businessman and lifelong athlete, is online with his coach, analyzing his most recent Ironman Mont-Tremblant performance.

There is a common thread connecting these seemingly separate scenarios: camaraderie. As is often found in the sport of triathlon, the brutal and challenging experience of swimming, biking, and running 140.6 miles brings people together, forming bonds that can last a lifetime. Kit, Karen, Elizabeth, and Kim are no different. They share a vested interest in the upcoming Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii — one of the most difficult athletic trials known to man — and they’ve all prepared by training with TriDot’s Preseason Project.

Kit and Karen will soon be making their first trip to the Big Island. Kit, who will be representing the Ironman Foundation, is competing in Kona for the first time. Beginning his training with TriDot during the 2018 Preseason Project, Kit has seen vast improvement in all three triathlon disciplines and is looking forward to the challenges he’ll face on the historic Kona course. Karen, also a participant in the 2018 Preseason Project, used her training to win her age group at Ironman Estonia earlier this year, cementing her spot in Kona.

Elizabeth, who competed in Kona 2018 after winning her age-group at Ironman Chattanooga in 2017, takes a different approach this year, as she’ll be coaching two athletes competing in the World Championship event. Elizabeth began her TriDot training with the Preseason Project in 2014 as a brand new triathlete, and since then she’s completed four full-distance Ironman events, the most recent being last year’s World Championship race.

Kim Robinson is no stranger to Kona. 2019 will be his third race in Hawaii, having also competed in both 2016 and 2018. Having previously qualified for Kona, Kim was eager to return and became intrigued by the efficacy of TriDot, and the expertise of Kona legend, coach Kurt Madden. Utilizing the analytical powerhouse of TriDot’s predictive training intelligence, while working closely with coach Kurt Madden, Kim has continued his triathlon successes and is looking forward to competing again on the big stage at Kona.

As evidenced by the variety in age, gender, and experience level of these four triathletes, it’s easy to see that TriDot’s Preseason Project is not just for a specific type of athlete! TriDot is appropriate for both the beginner, and the Kona qualifier alike. Because every training plan is based off individual physical characteristics and current performance levels, athletes maximize their return on training hours, achieving their best race results, while dramatically reducing the risk of injury.

Why is TriDot so effective? TriDot is an intelligent, analytical tool built on top of data that’s been gathered from tens of thousands of athletes over a decade and a half. It is more effective than any other training program because it takes into account every aspect of the individual athlete, prescribing training based on these specific factors to ensure an athlete commits to the training that’s going to help them improve in the most effective, efficient way possible for them.

TriDot is free from the subjective and often error-prone human element that plagues many training regiments. TriDot uses your current performance assessments and athletic profile to prescribe training specific to you and your needs. This is not a guessing game, but instead, calculated and optimized training.

But don’t take our word for it.

“The careful progression and structure of training to avoid injury is a benefit.” – Kim

“TriDot’s triathlon training has taken my athletic competition to a level beyond what I could have imagined for myself.” – Elizabeth

These are only two examples of thousands of athletes that have achieved success using TriDot’s PSP program. Look for Preseason Project applications to open up near the  end of October. Whether you are looking for your first finish line, your fastest finish line, or your opportunity to compete in Kona, TriDot is there to support your training so you can achieve your best race results.
